The Science of Immunohaematology

Professor Zaccheaus Awortu Jeremiah is a Professor of Haematology and Blood Transfusion Science at Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He hails from Asarama City in the Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria. He obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree on the 21st December 2006 and other postgraduate degrees from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (now Rivers State University), all in the discipline of Haematology and Blood Transfusion Service. He obtained the academic Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath), London, UK in 2013, Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Science (FIBMS), London, in 2014 and Fellow of the West African Postgraduate College of Medical Laboratory Science (FWAPCMLS), Nigeria in 2020. He served as the regional foundation chair of the Haematology Faculty in the West African Postgraduate College of Medical Laboratory Science from 2020-2024.
His university lecturing career started at Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Nigeria as a Lecturer I in 2007, and he rose to the rank of Professor of Haematology and Blood Transfusion Science on the 1st October 2014 in the same university. He delivered his inaugural lecture titled The Oracle in the Blood on the 13th December 2017. His research interest encompasses the following areas in Haematology: general haematology, immunohaematology, infectious diseases and coagulation. His current research interest is in adhesion molecules. He has over one hundred and fifty research publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals to his credit.
