This book describes the scientific mechanism and clinically proven contents of photodynamic cancer treatment at university hospitals in Korea, and is a must-read for clinicians and cancer treatment researchers who treat cancer, biomedical engineering engineers who want to develop medical devices, students of medical colleges, and students of biomedical engineering departments of engineering colleges. In addition, we provide important information about cancer treatment to cancer patients.
Photodynamic cancer treatment is a simple procedure that uses a chemical reaction of light and photosensitizers. Since cancer can be treated without surgery and only cancer cells are selected for treatment, normal cells are not damaged. Inoperable cancers can be treated repeatedly, and tumors are treated only by irradiating light, so there are no side effects or complications after treatment, and the patient suffers less during treatment. In addition, the cost of treatment is low, and this book also details photodynamic cancer treatment methods that have a higher survival rate for cancer patients after treatment than other cancer treatment methods.

Dr Hyunsoo Lim is currently a professor at Sakarya University of Applied Science, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Sakarya, Turkey. He also served as a professor of biomedical engineering at Chungnam National University College of Medicine in South Korea for 40 years, teaching biomedical engineering to medical students and research and development of medical devices to engineering and biomedical engineering students.
He is the author of “Photodynamic Therapy and Application of Laser” (2007), and “In Vivo Study of Laser Irradiation Techniques for the Treatment and Palliation of Lung Cancer Using Photodynamic Therapy, Palliative Care for Chronic Cancer Patients in the Community” (2022). He has also authored and co-authored the following journal papers: “Some synergetic therapy strategies for overcoming hypoxia for photodynamic therapy of cancer” and “Comparison of the anti-cancer activity of 5-aminolevulinic acid-mediated photodynamic therapy after-continuous wave and pulse irradiation in different histological types of canine mammary sarcoma tumors”.
