Despite the wide recognition of creativity as a critical 21st-century skill, there is a widespread gap in understanding and application of creativity theory and practice among schoolteachers, higher education faculty, and those responsible for preparing future Grade PreK-12 teachers in their classrooms. Research from IBM (2010) and the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs report (2024) highlights creativity as an essential competency for future leaders. However, most teacher education programs worldwide fail to provide educators with the tools to recognize and nurture creative potential.
This lack of training results in missed opportunities in identifying and supporting creative students, often fostering misconceptions or even bias against them. To bridge this gap, both pre-service and in-service teachers—as well as those designing and delivering teacher education programs—must develop the knowledge and strategies necessary to cultivate creativity in their students.
This manual seeks to address this urgent and critical need. Whether a teacher, a teacher educator, a corporate trainer, or an instructional designer, this book provides educators with research-backed insights and practical strategies to integrate creativity into their respective learning environments. By doing so, they will not only enhance student engagement and innovation but also prepare the next generation of leaders to thrive in what is becoming an increasingly complex world.
