This book explores the tourism industry by incorporating perspectives from constructors, tourists, communities, and policymakers. It introduces the concept of the constructed environment as an ideal and forward-looking approach to promoting sustainable tourism in Northeast India—an emerging and promising tourist destination. Despite its potential, scholarly research on the region remains limited. The book addresses this gap through a clear and accessible discussion, using literature reviews based on a triangulation review matrix, descriptive analysis, and opinion synthesis matrix. The constructed environment framework offers a rational basis for investment and development, aiming to present destinations as global wonders. It redefines each site as a “perfect destination,” aligning with tourist psychology and the competencies of stakeholders. Rich in natural resources and tourism potential, Northeast India risks overexploitation. Hence, the concept of the constructed environment becomes vital in managing these resources effectively, ensuring both sustainability and alignment with the needs of all stakeholders.
