This book aims to bring together theoretical and practical elements in presenting the most modern and innovative approaches to flexibility of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) protocols. Therefore, understanding cultural differences in the interpretation, communication and attribution of meaning to emotions is fundamental to the development of an effective and culturally sensitive therapeutic relationship. Cultural humility also implies being aware of one’s own cultural limitations and prejudices, and being willing to question them.

Êdela Aparecida Nicoletti is a psychologist, a specialist in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and a mentor and tutor for the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Proficiency Program at Centro de Terapia Cognitiva (CTC) Veda, Brazil. She is trained in Teaching and Supervision by the Beck Institute, USA. She is Director of the Veda Cognitive Therapy Center, Honorary Teacher of the Training Team of the Nora Cavaco Institute in Portugal, and certified in PTSD by the Beck Institute. She has undergone intensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) at BTech level in the Linehan Institute, and is a Certified Specialist by FBTC (Federação Brasileira de Terapias Cognitivas) and DGERT (Direção-Geral do Emprego e das Relações de Trabalho). She has a Master’s in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Adults, Children and Adolescents by Proficoncept/DGERT (Portugal).

Mariana Fortunata Donadon is a Psychologist from the Ribeirão Preto School of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of the University of São Paulo (FFCLRP/USP), Brazil. She has a Master’s and PhD in Mental Health from the Ribeirão Preto Medical School of the University of São Paulo (FMRP/USP). She is a specialist in Cognitive Therapy at the Center for Cognitive Therapy and Neuropsychology, and a Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapist certified by DGERT International. She is a Member of the Scientific Committee of CTC Veda and a Lecturer in Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Specialization courses in Psychology and Medicine.
